The Church lives in interesting times. Vast amounts of religious, cultural, and technological change have happened within a single generation. Society is redefining itself and so is the Church. Whilst this is easy to understand it can mean a difficult personal journey. As society changes it’s values, and the church within that society changes from being at the centre to the periphery many Christians and leaders can find themselves disoriented. This means there are challenges for disoriented leaders leading disoriented churches within a disoriented society.
However, we have a faithful God who has “given us all things necessary for life and godliness”. To move from uncertainty to this confidence implies a journey not unlike Israel leaving the familiar culture of Egypt and finding a new identity, confidence and purpose in God; or Daniel, being forcibly taken from his home culture to another, or similarly Joseph in Egypt. God is well versed in helping disoriented people. The issue is resolved, over time, by our willingness to be humble, to be led, to be reequipped and retrained by Jesus Spirit. God did it for the first Church, he can do it for us too.
